Description: This is a fabulous antique straight razor. It is called "The Admirals" and has images on the blade of Admiral Sampson , Admiral Dewey and Admiral Schley. This was probably made right after the Spanish American War [1898] to commemorate three of the Admirals involved in that war.William Thomas Sampson (February 9, 1840 – May 6, 1902) was a US Admiral who was known for the Battle of Santiago Cuba. George Dewey (December 26, 1837 – January 16, 1917) was Admiral of the Navy, the only person in United States history to have attained that rank. The most famous of these three, he is known for the Battle of Manila Bay.Winfield Scott Schley (9 October 1839 – 2 October 1911) was a rear admiral in the United States Navy.He was known for the Battle of Santiago Cuba. The razor is in excellent slightly used condition. The images of the three admirals are gold plated. The images are excellent and the gold plating is excellent. I saw some other examples of this razor and the gold was worn off and some even had the images worn. It is sharp but it may need a little more sharpening if you intend to use it. The handles are excellent with no cracks or warpage. Made in Germany and marked "Sheffield Steel The Admirals".Comes with the original box which shows some wear but overall it is in good condition.Great vintage razor. It will be shipped in a box.jiihhjiujih Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
