Description: For your consideration is an elaborate ladies purse compact. This compact is Sterling Silver and offers a mirror and covered powder compartment, a dance card or bill holder and two coin slots. The inside of the cover is a machine turned swirl design and the outside is an engraved Victorian floral design. There is a place on the front where it could be monogrammed but is not. The back side is monogrammed in elaborate cursive capital letters with the initials "AFC". It has a 5" lanyard chain for convenience of wearing it on the wrist. This purse compact was considered an essential part of an evening wardrobe in the 1920's. The condition is excellent used. The mirror is clear with no cracks or scratches and the coin slots have strong springs. There is some minor scratches and dents to the case, consistent with age and use but overall it presents itself beautifully. The compact measures 3-1/2" x 2-3/8" and was manufactured by the Watrous Manufacturing Co. in the early 1900's. It is stamped W. STERLING 741.
