Description: Antique SOHO Pottery United 9" Plate "Watteau" Flow Blue Edwardian from L.Straus & SonThe Watteau pattern was popular in its day and was produced by more than one company. This plate was made by Soho Pottery United of Cobridge, England around 1910. Founded in 1869, L.Straus & Son were bustling New York City importers of porcelain items from Europe. L.Straus operated as a family business under various names until closing in 1930. This is an antique piece and shows signs of age, namely the glaze has crazed. It is not very noticeable on the front because the blue color is so vibrant, but it definitely can be seen on the back. There are no chips or cracks in the porcelain itself. Despite the crazing, it is still beautiful and would be lovely displayed or for light use. From a smoke free, climate controlled home.
