Description: Burnet Saxirage or Pimpinella Saxifraga. Beautiful Original Botanical Antique Engraving by William Baxter. Printed and Handcolored in 1835. Not A Reproduction. Exquisite! A wonderful engraving that was handcolored almost 200 years ago, now priced very low as part of our ongoing inventory reduction. These exquisite engravings are compelling when framed and mounted in a room either singly or in groupings. A great opportunity to showcase an artistic and accurate piece of botanical history at your home. This colorful botanical engraving was published as part of a 7 volume set of botanical books illustrating the flowering plants of Britain in 1835. The volumes were published in London, by the author, W. Baxter. Research shows that Baxter's adult daughters may have been the hands behind the delicate hand-coloring for many of the volumes. Size: approximately 5 inches wide by 8 inces tall. This copper-plate engraving on fine, laid paper is an antique item, not a reproduction. It has survived almost 200 years, and any antique paper item will show small signs of its passage through time. Due to the age of the item and the nature of antique paper, small imperfections are to be expected.
