Description: From my collection, this is an antique German paper mache doll with wooden lower arms and hands on a gussetted cloth body. I have always loved the look of these ladies as they document women’s history. In the 1840s this hairstyle, which featured center parted hair pulled around the ears, leaving them exposed, was a style popularized by Queen Victoria. This hair, then, dates her to that era. She stands 15”tall, a perfect cabinet size. I think this may be the original dress. The fabric and style are right, and it fits her well. If not original it is definitely appropriate. She wears antique leather slippers with silver metal buckles. Her knit socks echo the trim on her dress. She also has tiny crocheted trimmed pantaloons and a chemise. I didn’t undress her, I would destroy her clothing, but have tried to take many photos. My asking price is what I paid, but I will consider reasonable offers.
