Description: Pre 1881 SECURITY SAFE DEPOSIT CAST IRON SAFE BANK Offered for sale is a large cast iron "Security Safe Deposit" safe bank with combination dial. VERY RARE AND OLD ANTIQUE CAST IRON SAFE BANK - " SECURITY SAFE DEPOSIT" - KYSER & REX - "PAT Appl'd for" on bottom. The first patent was granted in 1881 so this bank predates that. TWO ALL WOOD PULL - OUT DOVETAILED DRAWERS. THERE IS A SLOT AT THE TOP FOR A COIN DROP......THE COINS WOULD DROP INTO THE TOP DRAWER AND BE STORED UNTIL FULL, THEN THE TOP DRAWER CONTENTS WOULD BE MOVED INTO THE LOWER DRAWER AND BE STORED THERE AS A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX. ALLOWING ROOM IN THE TOP FOR MORE COIN DROPS. THE DOOR ON THIS PIECE IS NICE AND STRONG ON ITS HINGES. THE LOCKING MECHANISM is FUNCTIONAL but seems to open every other click rather than a specific combo. 4 5/8 " WIDE, 6" HIGH , AND 4 1/4 " DEEP. THIS VINTAGE BANK IS IN GREAT LOOKING SHAPE AND IS INDEED A rare FIND of this age and IN THIS CONDITION! The bank is in very good condition with no damage and nice age patina.
