Description: Antique Meiji Period Japanese Platter Charger Plate Arita Blue & White Porcelain Birds Hand Painted Japan 18” Condition:This is a beautiful, very large, antique Arita Japanese charger, platter, or plate. It is made of white porcelain with a blue, hand-painted scene and decorative rim. It is an image of two birds or geese plunging into the waves of the ocean near the rocky shore. It appears to have been wood-fired with some ash marks. It has five stilt marks on the back, indicating an older piece as I understand. It is not marked. I believe it is from the Meiji period but it may be the Edo period. I am not an expert. It is very lovely. It measures 18" in diameter x 2" tall. It weighs 7 lbs. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or damage. It has minor signs of wear and manufacturing marks but no damage. Please see the photos for specifics on the condition of this antique Japanese charger.
