Description: Rare mallet shaped wine bottle in a green colour. Looks to be blown into a mould. Has the seam line and seal mark to the front. Measures 20cm tallweight 640g This bottle was found by my grandfather in the early 1970s during the construction of a parkade / parking lot in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. The area under construction was originally known as Beatty Lane (the alley between Beatty Street and Cambie) which disappears from directories in 1914, but has significant history to the city of Vancouver. The construction site got as deep as three stories underground and was reliably pulling unique items out of the ground (some garbage, others very interesting). Word around the construction site was that this was an old dump. This bottle was found in that construction site and stored ever since. The bottle has never been washed or cleaned, but holds character. Little was known about the bottle until recently when reverse image search was available which pins the age around 1890 which would align with the possible Beatty Lane history.
