Description: DETAILSThis antique, tapestry panel is flat woven in wool with the coat of arms of Hilaire Étienne Octave Rouillé de Boissy, Marquis de Boissy (French, 1798-1866) and the Gamba family for his wife Teresa (Gamba) Guiccioli, Marquise de Boissy (Italian, 1800-73), who were married in 1851. The central coat of arms is flanked by rampant lions, surmounted by a crown and the Latin motto Moderatur et Urget, with ribbon suspended Maltese cross, set against a drapery swag pulled into crown shaped knop held with a gold ring, all against a crimson (cramoisi) ground.
