Description: This very unusual and well made whirligig is from the 1940-1950's era and features a large flying goose. The solid pine wood frame has a unique aerodynamically fashioned curved metal wings which easily catch the wind, so this goose has flown many miles over the years!!!Measures 25-1/2'' long by 8'' wide and 5-1/2'' tall with the solid wood body being 5/8'' thick. The wings extend out 20-1/4'' long with a center wood bracket holding the pivoting bolt to which the curved metal wings are attached. There is an old steel rod which is removable at the bottom for attaching to fence or post. This has the original paint, which is still quite vivid with some weathering and paint loss noted on several areas. The wings rotate easily and function smoothly in the wind.In solid, good original condition.
