Description: Travel back in time with this antique five-string banjo. I don't know who the maker is, please let me know if you do. It has an interesting one-piece mahogany neck with an old-fashioned v-profile. Fretboard looks like dark rosewood to me. The wood pot is wrapped in ferrous metal. 20 hooks. It has all its hardware. The neck has a cut-out where it meets the pot. I associate the cut-out with Bisbee. Is it a Bisbee? Please tell me. Cosmetically, it looks okay. The modern 5 Star head has ordinary age wear. The fretboard has chipped away where it meets the pot, plus a bit on the treble edge between the fourth and fifth frets. It is missing its tension hoop. The head is just held on its edge. One of the tuner knobs is a modern replacement that doesn't match the other black knobs. The 12th fret action is high: 8/32". The neck is reasonable straight with a bit of relief. So, it should be set up better to bring the action down. It comes in a vintage chipboard case that is NOT NOT NOT original. The accessory pocket flap is unattached. The handle, latches, and hinges all work. Questions? It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 46"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box. Please check out our eBay store, Time Travel Music, for more cool vintage stuff, including a bunch of vintage guitars (and a few ukuleles, banjos, fiddles, mandolins and amps, as well as fiddles, brass, woodwind, and various oddball musical instruments and old instrument brochures & catalogs).
