Antique Faust's Own Porcelain Beer Stein w/Lithophane Bottom Circa 1880's RARE

Description: Unique beer stein of Faust's Own Lager made in St. Louis, Missouri and founded by Tony Faust. This stein originates from around the 1880s and would be one of the few that still survive that were originally served with Faust's Own lager beer at Mr. Faust's restaurant. The porcelain beer stein was commissioned by Tony Faust Oyster House and Anheuser Brewing Co. to have it decorated in Germany with the hand painted Blue Onion pattern so well known by Meissen. The hinged lid works well and has some patina, but no rust. The white metal alloy has a pewter look, but it more lightweight. The blue and white pattern continues on the porcelain lid that includes a bird in the middle. On the underside is a photo transfer inlay portrait of Mr. Tony Faust, the owner of the restaurant and for whom the lager was named after. The lid's porcelain has a horizontal crack that you should be able to see in the photos. The porcelain still remains completely held firm and tight within the metal of the lid. I like to imagine that someone had a fun night that evening when that mishap happened.The bottom displays a lithophane of three tavern customers joyfully imbibing around a table. The only mark on the bottom is the number 82.This rare stein is 6 1/2 inches tall and hold 16 oz. I see no other imperfections that I can note as an issue.
