Description: I am selling this for a friend who is helping her sister clean out the attic of their family home where many treasures have been stored for decades. This Magic Lantern has an amazing and unusual male metal figure that appears to be holding up the lantern. I assume it is one of the ancient Roman or Green gods. If you know, please feel free to educate me! Given that rare feature, I believe this is an early Ernst Plank magic lantern, although I can't find the mark. There is a partial label on the box identifying it as a Lanterne Magique Made in Germany. There are three round slides and six rectangular ones, plus two slides set in wood. There is also a 1994 newspaper article from The Star Ledger about a Victorian Light Show exhibit in Newark. I don't know for sure that this magic lantern was part of that exhibit. We plugged it in and the bulb is good. As you can see, it does NOT come from a pet free home, and our kitty was very curious about the magic happening here. Please look at the pictures and ask questions before bidding. Also, please check out my other items. My husband and I spent over 30 years collecting and selling at flea markets and antique shows and now are finding all kinds of treasures in our carriage barn full of stuff to post on eBay. All items are sold as you see them and all sales are final. Payment is expected within 3 days after the end of the auction and I will ship within 3 days of payment. Buyer pays shipping. I purchase postage labels on line so delivery confirmation is free. Ebay will collect and pay appropriate sales tax if you live in a state that requires them to do so.
