Description: This vintage hanging hurricane lamp is an oil lamp that was converted to electric.It was manufactured as an oil lamp in the late 1800s or early 1900s. It was likely wired sometime around the 1950s. It gets hardwired to your ceiling.It has the original white glass or milk glass shade that is decorated with pink roses and green leaves. It has brass collars around the top and bottom. The oil font matches. There is a hole on the metal hurricane shade holder for a switch. The brass smoke bell is original. It comes with the frosted glass chimney as well.There are 27 crystals or prisms spaced 6 holes apart. Take note of this as they will be removed for shipping.This hanging hurricane oil lamp would look lovely over the dining room table in your Depression era or Victorian home.It is in excellent antique condition with minor signs of age such as tarnish and patina on the metal. No chips or nicks. Paint looks great. The metal hurricane shade holder is a slightly different color than the other brass, leaning towards silver--obviously replaced when it was rewired. The switch is missing, and not actually necessary, but they are easily found at any electrical supply. The wiring looks good but no guarantees it works since I cannot test it. I have more pictures of the electrical if you'd like to see it. There is a large chip on the bottom of the glass hurricane shade that cannot be seen when it is installed (last photo). I am including it for free.
