Description: A Chinese silver export card case made at the end of the C19th . Depicting elders in a garden setting with pines on the top hand corner of the front panel. This image probably was designed to bring the recipient long life ( the pines) and fruitful business relationships ( the number of elders in the piece). The reverse of the case depicts bamboo which symbolises loyalty and honesty, always desirable in business dealings. The top lifts off i.e: there is no hinge. This is a pretty piece bought in Liverpool in the 1980s, a major centre of international trade in the C19th -mid C20th. Any questions please ask, happy to answer.
