Description: I have here an old Chas. Parker No. 39X Bench Vise with 3-3/4” wide jaws and weighing approximately 50 lbs. Vise is about 18” long when fully closed. I don’t know the exact manufacturer date but these “X” model vises had very thick castings and were well known as solid vises, dating back to 1899 when Parker Co first introduced the Superior “X” line of bench vises. This one sports the usual thick casting and semi-steel solid bar (steel bar casted in slide). that the “X” models provided. This one is in very good shape for its age, especially considering most of these were bought to use hard and often. The only issue I can see with this vise is some spindle wear from the years of use, but adding a few washers to the along with the original that’s there should solve that issue and remove slop and backlash. I received the vise with some nasty paint and corrosion on it so it has been stripped, cleaned and oiled. I will say it’s been shelved in a dehumidified room so it will need to be greased and oiled before it’s used again. These vises are becoming harder to find and they aren’t produced with the quality they were back then so it’s hard to get the same quality these days without spending thousands. This vise would provide another 50+ years of service or it would be a great conversation piece in any workshop. Thank you for viewing and don’t hesitate to message me with any questions about the vise. Will ship to the lower 48 and Canada.
