Description: This antique book titled "Buffalo Bill & His Adventures" by Ned Buntline is a must-have for any collector of Western pulp novels. The softcover wraps add to the unique character of this piece, making it a standout addition to any bookshelf. Journalist and writer Ned Buntline (who was quite a character in his own right) was largely responsible for creating the legend of Buffalo Bill, a nickname Buntline devised for William Frederick Cody (1846-1917). Buffalo Bill was the hero of Buntlines serial novel Buffalo Bill, the King of the Border Men, published in the New York Weekly beginning December 23, 1869. Then, in 1872, Buntline wrote a Buffalo Bill play called Scouts of the Prairie starring Cody himself. Although panned by critics when it opened in Chicago, the play was a smashing success and it performed to packed theaters across the country for years. Buntlines play served as a training ground for Codys later Wild West show. *I found an 8th graders school assignment from 1917 in the book which is included. Just a cool piece of history. Please see pics for condition of book.
