Description: Antique B&L brass monocular 2 lens (16 mm, 4 mm) laboratory microscope in cedar-stained wooden box (13.5" x 8" x 6.5") with key lock (no key included) and black carrying handle. We estimate this to be from c.1912 (see bottom base number engraved "12"). Plate on base reads- "Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. USA, Logo B-L Z S 98438 (Bausch Lomb Saegmuller Zeiss).This microscope needs a good cleaning - There is age and use wear. Historical Information:The Bausch & Lomb Co. was a prominent manufacturer of optical glass and instruments founded in 1853 and stopped making microscopes in 1876. They then entered into a joint venture with Saegmuller and alliance with Zeiss 1890s - 1903 (notice the initials "Z S" on the label). Saegmuller and Zeiss are now global manufacturer of eye products and pharmaceuticals.
