Their knives manufactured with the finest steel earned a good reputation for quality. In 1840s, John Russell introduced the legendary "Green River Works Knife" and it became an instant success. Its design and quality was overwhelmingly accepted by American consumers. Between 1840 and 1860 it is estimated that 60,000 dozen Green River knives were sent west to emigrants, buffalo hunters, Indians, miners and settlers. This knife has the blade hand forged from the early carbon steel and tempered to achieve greater toughness providing the long-lasting keen edge cut-ability. The handle is triple pinned over the full tang and single bolstered to good fitting for durability, strength, & balance. It has the fine condition. No trademark logo.
