Description: Offered is this antique four page flyer advertising a series of lectures on phrenology by Professor Martin Friedrich, a graduate of the American Institute of Phrenology. The flyer is undated, but the Institute was founded in 1866. I have not been able to discover anything about Prof. Friedrich but I think this dates to the late 1800s, during the height of phrenology's popularity. The location and time of the lectures have not been filled in, so I don't know for sure where they were to be given, but presumably they were in New York, home of the Institute. In addition to announcing the lecture series, the flyer gives some basics of "phrenology and its uses", with many illustrated examples. This is a rare, possibly unique find; at the time of original listing I could not find another of these flyers for sale on eBay. The program is approx. 9 1/4" x 6". It is in fair to good condition. There are numerous short and a few longer edge tears. The paper has browned and has a crease where it has been folded. Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
