Estate Sale Find.Three graduated strands of natural Italian tomato red coral.The beads have a beautiful natural color and graduate from 3.8 mm up to 16.2mm. Weight: 178.4 grams. The beads have pits and some white and dark inclusions, visible in the photos. They have a great luster, feel smooth to the hand, and are just stunning .Necklace is finished on each end with a brass end cap. On one end is a gold ring stamped 800.The mark indicates fineness, gold of 800 fineness is approximately 19kt. It was used in Europe until about the second half of the 20th century, primarily Italy, Germany, France and Portugal. It was never used in the US as a karat weight. On the other end is what I believe to be a brass jump ring and well made lobster clasp. This gorgeous necklace is strung with several strands of red thread, the coral beads are not individually knotted. I purchased this from a wealthy Pebble Beach estate, the owner was a 97 year old woman who had traveled extensively throughout her life, and spent many years in Europe.Near the center of the necklace I can see a 1/2" piece of red thread raised, it could be trimmed but I haven't done so.Ships from non smoking pet free home. 1-4 business days handling.
