Description: This is really a spectacular Victorian Valentine! It dates to around 1910, and isn't marked. It is made from celluloid and parchment attached to heavy cardboard with brads, and has a gorgeous matching die cut Victorian scrap girl in the middle. The piece just says "To My Love", and is unsigned on the back. The colors are great with lots of gilt over the celluloid, which is two tones of turquoise. The celluloid is slightly translucent. The piece displays really well. It doesn't have an easel on the back, but one could be added easily. It is really a remarkable piece that has fabulous patina - the aged look things get over time. Victorian scrap, by the way, refers to embossed die cuts that Victorians used in scrap books - hence the name "scrap". The valentine is really large - almost 10" tall, and 7" wide. You won't be disappointed.
