Description: Seller: Alley-Antiques DESCRIPTION: Antique Musical Instruments. This is a very collectible 19th Century Washburn round back mandolin. Dates back to the 1890s. Circa 1894. AS-IS. This is a display piece, study piece, or possibly a restoration project, or parts. It has 2 labels inside. One is "The New Washburn Latest Model" and the other is Washburn's one year guarantee from purchase date(which has expired about 129 years ago). Also on the makers label it mentions Highest Award Winner at Columbia. Exposition Chicago 1893 and Gold Metal Winner and Diploma of honor Antwerp 1894. Very early Washburn instrument. It is a beautiful and well made instrument. Has a rosewood round back. Nice etched makers metal plate on back. Antique. Over 100 years old. AS-IS condition. Has original finish. All tuners are original. Frets original and all in place. 4 small areas of Mother's of Pearl in place. Labels in good shape and in place. Back metal engraved makers label piece on back is in place. Missing 4 strings. Missing bridge. Missing areas of celluloid? banding around mandolin. Back has a couple small areas of celluloid? line that is lacking. Missing the bottom front metal string cover on bottom. Has a couple small cracks on bottom of face. The bottom sides of face is slightly lifting. Nice very collectible display piece. You could find s bridge, re string the mandolin and it would display beautifully. This piece is as is and you can do as much or as little as you want to it. Antique. Around 130 year old Washburn musical instrument. Upon close inspection you may notice some minor scuffs, dings, and scratches typical of age and use. Overall measures just under 23 3/4" long, 7 3/8" wide, and 6" tall at extremes. Selling as pictured(Mandolin only, no case).
