Description: This listing is for a 16th century English portrait painting. The painting is an oil on board and it depicts a pikeman in armor. It comes in a lovely later (19th century) gilt wood Aesthetic style frame. The painting is in quite nice condition for its age. There is an old sticker on the reverse of the painting with an animal's head and the initials "J.D." We believe that this was either an old 19th century export sticker or an old gallery sticker. The framed piece measures 24 x 28.5 inches This painting is in overall good condition for its age. A corner of the wood has chipped off over the years, but it is obscured by the frame. The painting has darkened a bit over the years. There are a few signs of repair to the frame and a few small missing pieces of the detailing, but none of this is very noticeable.
