The item for sale is well-established first-generation, artificially propagated (from seed) young plant shown in the fourth and fifth images, planted in a bark + perlite + charcoal + tree fern mix in a 4.5”/11 cm pot. A few small blemishes on older juvenile leaves but new foliage is very clean and well-developed. 14"/35 cm tall overall. Anthurium cutucuense is one of the most beautiful and elusive cloud forest aroids in cultivation. Listed by the IUCN as Endangered in nature, it rarely flowers in cultivation outside of its origin country of Ecuador. I have been growing this species on a continuous for more than two decades and have produced artificially propagated plants in both Guatemala and the U.S. Due to concerns stemming from the recent upsurge in commercial collection of wild ornamental aroids I have again produced another batch of seedlings from select parents that I obtained in 2000 and have grown continuously since. This is a magnificent species that has – in my opinion - an undeserved reputation for being hard to grow based on maladapted, wild-collected stock that invariably fade when removed from greenhouse conditions. These F1 domestically propagated plants provide an ethical, high quality alternative to rooted, wild-collected stems that continue to flood the U.S., Asian and EU markets. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
