Description: This beautiful oil painting is by Anna Althea Hills (1892-1930). Born in Ravenna, Ohio, Anna attended Oliver College, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. She served as President of the Laguna Beach Art Association for six years, and her strong advocacy led to the founding of the Laguna Beach Art Museum in 1929. This painting is oil on canvas (24” x 18”) and was painted nearly a century ago. Age is reflected on the canvas on the top edge of the painting and on the left edge. The composition includes a boy sitting under a tree looking over the water at a hilltop chateau. It is a very serene painting and takes the viewer back to a more peaceful time. Anna’s works were exhibited widely including the California Art Club, the Pasadena-California International Exposition, the Laguna Art Association, the California State Fair, and the Washington Watercolor Club. Anna Althea Hills was an exceptional California impressionist artist and this wonderful painting will look great in your home or office. See “Seller’s other items”.
