Description: Andy Warhol Pink Sam c.1954 Print - The image has been re-created on a glossy material and then mounted onto a wood grained box frame. I think the box frame itself is resin. The frame is 2" thick. Overall dimensions are about 11.5" x 14". "Andy Warhol himself couldn't get enough of the feline species: he had absolutely loads of cats in the 50s and 60s, all named Sam with the exception of a single Hester. It was during this period that Warhol self-published his book 25 Cats Named Sam and One Blue Pussy (1954), a series of ink wash cat portraits, as well as a book of his mum Julia’s cat drawings entitled Holy Cats by Andy Warhol’s Mother. If you'd paid a visit to Andy and Julia's Carnegie Hill townhouse during this period, you might well have been given a parting gift of a kitten: these decades were productive for Andy as well as for Hester and the Sams."
