In his sophomore season, Moritz earned the program’s first-ever CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America honor. He was also named First Team All-Southern Conference and named to the NCAA Clemson All-Tournament team for his performance in the regional. Moritz led the Southern Conference with a .392 average hitting in the third spot of the Spartan order in every game and scored a season-high 60 runs. Moritz made ESPN Top ten Plays for a sliding catch on the warning track against Princeton (Mar. 10) Moritz finished the NCAA Clemson Regional 5-for-12 with an RBI, a run scored and two doubles. In 2018 with the UNC Greensboro Spartans, Moritz hit a school record .428 and also collected a school record 10 triples. He was an offensive machine driving in a team-high 61 runs and tying for the team-lead with 57 runs scored. His 92 hits ranks fifth-most all-time in a single season and his .406 career average set a new school record. Moritz started all 54 games in center field and hit six home runs and seven doubles and led the team with a .637 slugging percentage. He also earned a .492 on-base percentage and stole 12 bases. He was equally impressive on defense, committing just one error during the year, earning a .991 fielding percentage. The centerfielder drew 28 walks and struck out just 27 times in 215 at bats. He notched 28 multi-hit games and had a season-high 16-game hit streak. Moritz reached base in the final 47 games of the season, setting a new school record. For his tremendous effort, he was the 2018 Southern Conference Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Southern Conference.
