Helene Hyde is known for Still life, landscape paintings, prints. Helene DuBon Hyde (1899-1988) was born January 2, 1899. She was also known as Helene DuBon and Helene D. Hyde. Hyde studied at Pratt Institute and at the Art Student's League with Robert Henri, Irving Wiles, and George Bridgman. She studied in France with William Merritt Chase and later painted in Maine with Marsden Hartley. She is a well known American modernist and printmaker with a growing body of followers. She lived in New York City, likely in the Beaux Arts building where many modernist painters lived.She exhibited at Allied Artists of America, Metropolitan Galleries, Audubon Artists and the Nassau Arts League. Her work has been described as having strong composition, bold color and confident, expressive brush work. "There's never anything mincy or hesitant about Hyde's paintings. They always make a strong decorative statement". Helene DuBon Hyde died in New York City on October 14, 1988.
