Description: AKAI GX-9 STEREO CASSETTE DECK (1984) Brand new OLD STOCK vintage Akai GX-9 stereo cassette deck. This is an extra unit I purchased for personal collection. Box was opened to verify the content at time of purchase but deck has never been used or operated (only tested power on, no tape in transport). Comes with operating instructions in original box. The sonic performance of this deck is simply out of this world. It made my A brand XK-009 and N brand CR7 sound fake and boring. The Akai's state-of-the-art Quick & Quiet transport is without a doubt the best in business! Once you get used to its swift operation all other decks would seem handicapped to you. One unique feature of this deck is its sophisticated dual calibration system that incorporates a 2-stage Auto Tuning (taking less than 2 seconds to complete!) and a manual bias adjustment, which allows the computer-calibrated settings be fine-tuned to your preference. You do have the best of both worlds! Akai built a series of top-end cassette decks in the early 80's including GX-F95 (1981), GX-F91 (1982), GX-R99 (1983) and this GX-9 (1984). The GX-9 is packed with Akai's most advanced technology and innovations from years of continuous improvements. It is in my opinion the best Akai ever made. Although this deck was stored in a controlled environment without temperature or humidity extremes, it has been sitting static for 35 years and some moving parts may need a lube job and/or replacement. With that being said, please do not expect the deck to perform like a brand new one straight out of the box as it would 35 years ago. However, if you wish, I can inspect and, if needed, carry out a simple maintenance as a courtesy service under some conditions. Otherwise, I will not touch it so as to retain its originality and collectible value. This is the USA 120V version. Deck will be properly packed to ensure a safe transit.
