Description: Hi.Offering up a pretty rare AKAI GX-270D AUTO-REVERSE Reel to Reel deck. Comes in it's Original box/styrofoam...which will be put in a heavy duty box for shipping. Also has some AKAI paperwork and original receipt. Bought in the military for $390. I'm including TWO R-7M Metal reels in great shape in their original boxes. They are worth approx. $60 each themselves. I acquired them with this deck in the box. This rare model is DIRECT DRIVE! NO CAPSTAN BELT TO EVER REPLACE! You will never wear out the GX Heads used, which are in great shape. I honestly think this deck was hardly used. Meters/lamps are fine. I purchased this at a hi-end antique radio auction in Dallas. I installed a new quality counter belt. Again, there are no other belts. Lubricated the counter gears/rod. I vacuumed Any dust I could find while inside { not much at all }. Cleaned/Lubed various mechanical points, capstan shaft, internal Speed switch, etc. This deck works great. I recorded a CD on it...perfect. Played back 3 reels end to end....flawless. Listened in both headphones and Line outs to one of my systems. Plays great both directions. Shuttling tape is quiet. Cabinet is excellent except for a ding on the top front. This isn't really noticeable looking straight on. It could be improved if it bothers the new owner. Front is Very nice except very little mark up top by the minor wood ding. The way I got it. I've used and serviced RTR decks since the early 80's so RTR decks aren't new to me. Started with 2" Quad video in the USAF. I have a few other decks here and just don't need to hold on to this one.
