Description: Vintage Air France Planisphere by Lucien Boucher "Le Plus Grand Rseau Du Monde" original travel poster from 1959. Framed for a total size of 47 1/8" x 34 1/8" No fading or discoloration, lots of rich colors, and the gold lines still shine! There are a couple of small markings/wrinkles on the print and frame, as can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise this print is in gorgeous condition. An absolutely beautiful example of the many iconic pictorial route maps designed for Air France from 1934 through 1964 by renowned French artist and illustrator, Lucien Boucher (1889-1971). While similar to the earlier planispheres he created for Air France between 1934 and 1955, all of which featured many small illustrations and vignettes showing local landmarks, characters and scenes scattered across a colorful and surreally stylized world, this was now the "jet-age" and the emphasis would be on the new Boeing 707 jetliners that were not only transforming long distance air travel but also the company's expansion of new routes throughout the world.
