Description: ADMIRAL HOWE ENGRAVED MEZZOTINT PORTRAIT Very nice mezzotint engraving of Admiral Howe, Commander-in-Chief of the British fleet in North America during the American Revolution. One of the major figures in British naval history. This portrait was published just six months after his famous victory of the 'Glorious First of June', the first naval battle of the French Revolutionary Wars. The portrait depicts Howe half length, in uniform, within in rectangular frame, with a chart and epee posed on the ledge in front of him. Painted by S.de Koster and engraved by T. Burke London, Published Dec.1 1794 by J. Brydon, Charing Cross.This beautiful engraving was printed 230 years ago and is in very good condition. This item will be shipped in a 4" x36" tube.
