A Huge Wonderful and Vintage JOHN GENTILE Like FLYING GOOSE ArtGlass Paperweight

Description: OUR DESCRIPTION A Splendid Vintage John Gentile Like White Flying Goose Art Glass Paperweight over a Bright Red Cushion Core Bottom. The paperweight is a large magnum size and measures approximately 3-1/2" in diameter by 3-1/4" Tall and weights just over 2 pounds all by itself. I only see a slight imperfection in the glass at the bottoms edge which can not be seen when the paperweight is sitting on it's bottom, see last picture for location of the small ripple in the glass. I am also sure this would have happened at the time this amazing piece was created. I am not use to see the glass so crystal clear, it is truly a lovely piece of art glass work. The bottom is flat and clear and shows negligible shelf ware. I consider this lovely work of art glass to be in Excellent Original Vintage Condition. It is not signed but attribution is believed to be Gentile. Please check pictures for further description. The Stand is not part of this sale and is only used here for illustrative purposes. B304H - 44) Short History of Mr. JOHN GENTILE Mr. John Gentile (1923-2006) was born into a glass making family with his father Peter being the first. John became well known in the world of glass paperweights. John started the glass business in 1947 in Star City, West Virginia. He mainly catered to the tourist trade but over the decades that he worked with glass he perfected his paperweight trade skills and produced some very nice, interesting, and technically challenging paperweights. He was one of the first American paperweight artists to incorporate snakes and lizards. He worked with glassmaker Henry C. Johnson who made the snakes that John encased in glass. When John died in 2006, the company closed it's doors shortly thereafter. ABOUT ME I am first and foremost a collector of many different types of antiques.
