Description: A lovely 8” Madame Alexander #571 Argentine from the International Doll Series, from 1983, from Snowdrift Antiques.The Alexander Doll Company was founded in 1923 by Beatrice Alexander, aka Madame Alexander, and is still in operation today in New York, NY USA. The Alexander-Kins, Wendy, Wendy-Kins dolls, which are 7 1/2 - 8" tall, used the Wendy face mold from 1954-1994. Many of these dolls are either unmarked or marked ALEXANDER or ALEX.This is a very pretty 8” Madame Alexander doll dressed in typical Argentine paisana or country-girl outfit, #594. She has brown sleep eyes that open and shut with ease. Her black hair is in its original set with tight braids and no fly-aways. Her face has lovely painted features, I do not see any marks or rubs and her cheek blush is bright after all these years. She has that sweet Madame Alexander Wendy face lip pucker.She is a strung plastic doll with a socket head, and jointed arms and straight legs. The mark on her back reads: ALEXANDER. The rubber bands used to string her head and legs was stretched out so she was restrung with elastic which should last longer.Her dress consists of a long floral printed dress with a “V” neck and white lace trim at the sleeve hems. The attached skirt is gathered at the waist and very full with an accent ruffle just above the hem. She has a plain white cotton apron with white cotton ties. The dress is tagged in back with a label that reads: “Argentine” / by MADAME ALEXANDER / New York, USA.Her dress closes with two snaps in back. Her headband is a pale blue ribbon with a bow at the top. She also wears a pale blue handkerchief around her neck which is tied in front. The outfit is clean and crisp, looks like she was never played with and spent most of her days protected in her box.Her under garments consist of white cotton pantaloons with lace trim at the hem and elastic at the waist. She also wears a full white cotton gathered slip with lace trim at the hem and elastic at the waist. White hose cover her legs up to her thighs and she wears black faux suede slip-on shoes.Her Madame Alexander blue box is labeled ARGENTINE 571. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and retains the inner neck brace to hold her in place when boxed.This precious little Madame Alexander Argentine doll is looking for her new home, will it be yours?
