Description: These are from my Acoustic Research vintage speaker restorations. As long as I had the speakers apart, I decided to replace the pots with new L-pads instead of taking the effort to clean them all up as others have done. The 2x seemed to work fine after some Deoxit sprayed on them. The 2ax worked fine just as they were from the seller. The 4x I couldn’t test because the tweeters on my 4x’s were bad, and when I had the speaker opened up I just replaced them with L-pads. The 2x I’m pretty sure are from 1970 based on the cabinet design (didn’t remove the tweeters to look for a stamped on date), the AR2ax are from 1973, and the AR4x are from 1969. Original perfect restoration was not that important to me on these controls, but if it is important to you and you have the time and effort to clean these up, these should be a fine start on getting your ARs back to their intended state. Vintage ARs are fantastic speakers!
