Description: This is a wonderful version of the German firm, Schoenhut, of a traveling circus's PONY or HORSE. It is the 7” version of the horse produced by them. The clowns were the first to be produced for the circus in 1903 and the animals after that. Schoenhut closed their firm in 1935 and I am unsure the date of this item. THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE HORSE/ PONY ONLY. The last picture depicts 2 Schoenhut "Humpty Dumpty" Circus clowns I currently have up for auction that could be a companion piece to the horse. They are found in another auction. He has a hand-painted features with a BIG smiling face. AND the paint is completely intact in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition!!!The all-wood face and body are cream colored with light and dark grey shading. There are black hooves and mane. His face shows hand-painted yellow eyes with black outlining and black pupil. His nostrils and mouth are outlined in red. The body is cream with 90% of the paint intact with occasional rubs and scrapes. The hooves have wear too. Both leather ears are intact but his tail is missing. The harness is intact but is not attached to one side-- this part of the harness strap is shorter and not able to be tacked back in place. PLEASE SEE PICTURES for complete description. Please see other auctions-- I have 3 pieces of Schoenhut's HUMPTY DUMPTY CIRCUS for sale right now-- a smaller clown, a larger clown, and a horse. I can combine shipping if needed.BACKGROUND TO THE SCHOENHUT “HUMPTY DUMPTY” CIRCUS was found on the web in the Cavender Diary (brothers) from 1915. “In 1903, Albert Schoenhut debuted his Humpty Dumpty clown toy. He modeled the toy after the popular play and clown at the time, Humpty Dumpty. Until that time, Schoenhut made toy pianos, dolls and wooden blocks. His toy clown was so successful that within a year he had snowballed into a complete line of circus toys. The Humpty Dumpty Toy Circus. Over the next 30 years, Schoenhut continued to build his circus line to include a ringmaster, lion tamers, carnival wagons, tents, a complete orchestra, minstrels and acrobats, way too many clowns and a full menagerie of exotic animals. Almost all of the figures were fully poseable with slots in their feet so they could climb ladders, swing on trapeze, or ride on the back of a mount” (Cavender Diary, 1915). Schoenhut produced the Humpy Dumpty Circus from 1903- 1935.I AM A NON-SMOKER and have NO PETS.
