Description: These seeds are from my private orchard Item Description: This auction is for 7 fresh seeds of the Cedar Bay Cherry plant. Please notice this isn't a true cherry, but rather an Eugenia species. This plant is slow growing bush and can eventually reach 20 feet in height and after many years. Usually it will remain less than 10 feet. The plant is native to the rain forests of Eastern Australia. It will start producing fruit at the height of 2 feet or so, about 3-4 years under good conditions. The fruit is red and sweet when ripe and should be eaten when dark red and soft for best flavor, although some may like it better when red and still stiff, this fruit has 2 different tastes in different ripening stages.A fully Grown plant can bear 100's of fruits every year, a younger one will produce less. best thing is that the plant keep flowering and fruiting as long as it is warm so the fruiting season is long.Growing: This plant is hardy to about 30F, and will stop growth when temperature is less than 55F. It requires good Drainage for best growth and need full sun for best fruit production. An average amount of general fertilizer will help the plant growing well, as well as some Iron Chelate in alkaline soils every 4 months. This plant likes lots of water year round.
