Description: 600 seed of Phoenix Robellini also known as pygmy date palm, dwarf date palm, robellini, roebelins. I have pictured in my yard clumps of them and singles. As they grow and sprout, you can separate them or leave in clusters. Instructions for germination or below....there will be no instructions sent with seed. Pygmy Date Palm tree is a subtropical spreading palm in the Arecaceae (palm) family. Outdoors it grows to 10 feet high and 5 feet wide. As an indoor plant, it typically reaches 5 to 6 feet tall.It has fine leaves, an attractive trunk and is suitable for use indoors in cooler climates. The fruits are purple drupes are produced on female plants and are edible. Indoors: Plant in moist well-drained soil and give it protection from the hot afternoon sun (when young) since this plant prefers medium to high light. Keep the soil slightly moist during the growing season but do not overwater as it can cause root rot. This plant prefers to be slightly root-bound and doesn't like frequent repotting. . Keep away from cold drafts in the winter.Outdoors in a climate that doesn't freeze very long, anything goes. Plant in the ground, water and watch her grow. I'm in 9b and these are the trees in my hard photographed. THE LAST PHOTO IS WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN THEY SPROUT. ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A BLADE OF GRASS. GERMINATION: The seeds germinate slowly, so don't be alarmed if it takes them up to three to six months to sprout. These seeds are fresh but if you have to store some: Older, stored pygmy date palm seeds will reliably germinate if kept under very warm, moist conditions.Soak for 24 to 72 hours prior to planting. Should not get below 75 degrees at night.your potting mixture should be half lightweight soil and half perlite. Wet the top 2 inches of soil BUT DO NOT PRESS SOIL DOWN. You can tent with cellophane (poke lots of holes in it) and set in sun. Every 4-5 days, lift the cello and spritz with water to make sure it stays evenly wet. When you see sprouts, remove cellophane. If you sow directly to the ground, just sprinkle your seeds in a semi shady place outside that gets regular water. I throw a thin layer of wood mulch over top and wait to see sprouts. That easy in 9b.About 2 months after germination, you can individually pot, separate or leave in clumps.
