Description: One of the largest jalapeños, these peppers measure as long as 5 in. (13 cm)-long! Jalapeño Gigante produces jumbo delicious peppers that are perfect for salsa or stuffing as poppers. Easy to grow in any sunny garden or large patio pot, these peppers can be harvested throughout the Summer when they're green. They score between 2,500 and 5,000 Scoville units. Jalapeno Gigante only grows to about 24 inches tall, but the plant can be packed with pretty green peppers for a big batch of hot salsa. Jalapeños are a pod type of Capsicum. The growing period for a jalapeño plant is 70–80 days. When mature, the plant stands two and a half to three feet tall. Typically, a single plant will produce 25-30 pods. During a growing period, a plant will be picked multiple times. As the growing season comes to an end, the jalapeños start to turn red.Once picked, individual peppers ripen to red of their own accord. The peppers can be eaten green or red.Start seeds indoors 8 weeks before last frost. Keep soil barely moist. Wet soil will kill peppers. 80 degrees is ideal. Mammoth jalapeno peppers can be harvested once the pepper becomes dark green. Green peppers that are ready to harvest may develop small brown lines or scars. If the peppers are left on the plant longer, they turn red and may be slightly sweeter than the green jalapeno pepper. FREE shipping, NO Tracking. You should not use the information provided here for diagnosing or treating a health problem or disease or prescribing any medication or other treatment. *SEEDS DISCLAIMER* Most specialty seeds we offer are NOT fast to germinate. Many take several weeks, months, and some even up towards a year depending on dormancy, region, season etc. It is important that the buyer understands that seeds are perishable products and seed germination can be adversely affected by such factors as mold/fungus, bugs, temperature, moisture content, light intensity, dormancy, care, contamination of planting media among many other reasons. Germination recommendations are sent with each order and the buyer is free to research and use their own methods. Floating seeds do not always indicate that the seed is not viable. Many times, it is a misconception because the seed does not have the density to sink in water. Accordingly, The Plant Attraction does not guarantee seeds to perform properly regardless of conditions or buyer's methods or soil/water/lighting.
