On this stamp strip are: Bela Lugosi as Dracula, Lon Chaney as The Phantom of the Opera, Lon Chaney, Jr., as The Wolf Man, and Boris Karloff as both Frankenstein and The Mummy. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. This stamp strip has been designated as Scott Number 3172a.
