Looks to be made of cast iron. A true vintage artifact from the Colorado mining, railroad or manufacturing industries. Manufacturer mark is from the Durbin Durco & Company of St. Louis Missouri. Durabilt by Durbin is the successor of Durbin Durco, and has been making metal products since 1938. “Took” Durbin Jr. established Durbin & Company in St. Louis, MO whose initial products were cast boiler heating equipment and malleable cast products encompassing load binders which were sold primarily to farm and hardware jobbers, industrial distributors, and the US Army during WWII.
