These candles are not normal rechargeable battery candles. They are induction. No batteries to change; ever. Although each is sealed shut, they are not waterproof and should not be left outside but could be used for an outdoor event. I've shown a variety of photos: Two sets of 12 were purchased separately so one charging base has a green on light and the other has a red light when plugged in and in the charging mode. These lights on the bases only show that the bases are plugged in for charging and do not change. One charging cord is flat and the other rectangular in thickness. Either is fine to use. If you want to charge both bases at one time, you'll see that there's plugs on both sides of trays. The charging cord can only be used on the one side. The other side can plug into the other base for multiple charging. It is recommended that you should never charge less than 11 at one charging station. 12 are suggested. Each candle has an on/off button on the bottom. It is suggested that the button be turned off when being charged and candles that are off will not react to the remote. Any time that candles are turned on manually on the bottoms, they are using power as they are tuned to remote exposure (using battery power even if turned off by the remote). Each light will individually charge showing an internal red light, changing to green when charged. Candles will not charge at the same rate. Eventually, one may no longer fully charge or quickly lose power. It has reached the end of it's life and be properly disposed of with such rechargeable batteries. The manufacturer suggests these candles are possible to be charged 1,000 times. I have no idea how many times I've charged them. I only guarantee that they are in working order. You will see that each has a different length of working hours depending on battery life, brightness chosen, flickering and timer functions of the remote. When storing, turn each off by pressing the bottom on/off to off. As I stated, when on and tuned to the remote it is using power waiting for the remote to make adjustments. It is suggested that turning each on and off manually uses least battery power. However, the remote is the only way to control brightness and flickering which are all minimal changes. You'll notice that original candles are all white on bottoms with Hero marked on them. I ordered a set of 12 replacement votives that arrived with black on/off buttons and are not marked Hero. They are the same width but just slightly higher. They work just the same. Lastly, I show coloring that I've done with alcohol based permanent markers. I wanted a more orange flame. I removed all but two so you could see. This type of marker is easily removed with finger nail polish remover. Do you have an event with a specific special color like a wedding, breast cancer, etc. These candle sets sell from Hero for about $115 per 12 with a tray. The original value of the sale here was approximately $275.
