Description: The golden barrel cactus plant (Echinocactus grusonii) is an attractive rounded cactus growing to as much as 3 feet tall (1 m.) and 3 feet (1 m.) around. As with many barrel cactus plants, the stiff yellow needles grow in clusters along ribs of the cactus. Care for Golden barrel is minimal and needs infrequent watering. Light requirements: full sun / partial sun soil & water preferences: grows well in well-drained soils. Growing Instructions: My preferred and most successful method with a lot of seeds is to put them in a damp paper towel inside a sealed plastic bag (freezer bag). When seeds start to germinate, I put them in individual pots. For cacti, I usually let them grow inside the bag or plastic container until they become crowed.
