Description: "The Art Of Ukrainian Sixties" is the first attempt in the history of Ukrainian art history to pay tribute to a unique epoch - the sixties of the 20th century, one of the most important, but at the same time little-studied periods of Ukrainian art. The publication was based on 15 historiographical texts about the most significant sixties artists of Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Uzhhorod and Kharkiv.Monographic articles complement the texts on "official" artistic practices, which received the impetus for a noticeable formal renewal during this period: graphics, monumental art, and sculpture. Several historical and theoretical articles at the beginning of the book, as well as the last chapter, devoted to the literature, academic music, cinematography and architecture of those times, build a broader cultural basis for understanding artistic processes. The book includes over 400 reproductions of works and archival materials, many of which are being published for the first time. Visual materials are provided by Ukrainian museums, families of artists and private collectors. A careful selection of works for reproduction was carried out during consultations with the authors of the articles, researchers of individual personalities and museum workers dealing with the relevant period. Work on the research lasted more than five years, and during this time, more than 26 experts — art critics, researchers, collectors, artists, their relatives and friends — took part in organizing the materials.All of them belong to different generations, have different research views and professional experience, which gives an opportunity to see not only the panorama of the art of the 60s, but also a certain slice of modern Ukrainian art history.
