Bernard King Professional basketball player at the small forward position in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Played for University of Tennessee. He played 14 seasons with the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Washington Bullets. King is a four-time NBA All-Star, four-time All-NBA selection and led the NBA in scoring in the 1984–85 season. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on September 8, 2013. 2. Wiley PeckProfessional basketball player. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, he was a 6'7" and 220 lb shooting guard and played college basketball at Mississippi State University. He had a brief career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1979-80. Peck was selected 19th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1979 NBA Draft. After one season with the Spurs, he was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1980 expansion draft,3. Dion Cross Played for Silute, then Stanford in the late 1990s. 4. Hugh Durham American basketball coach. He was head coach at Florida State, Georgia, and Jacksonville. He is the only head coach to have led two different programs to their first Final Four appearances. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Durham was a highly recruited three-sport star at Eastern High School, where his teammate was the actor Ned Beatty. He was an all-state quarterback and all-region in basketball. He chose to play basketball in college and accepted a scholarship offer from Florida State University. Florida State University, Durham is one of the most prolific scorers in Seminole basketball history. He appears prominently in the Florida State record book as both a player and head coach. Durham was a guard for FSU head coach Bud Kennedy.Over fifty years after his FSU career ended, Durham's career average of 18.9 points per game is still the ninth best in school history. His 21.9 points per game in 1958–59 remains the seventh best single season average in FSU history. On January 19, 1957, Durham scored 43 points against Stetson University. It is still the second-best single game scoring mark in school history. For his three-year varsity career, Durham scored 1,381 points. Durham played prior to college basketball adopting the three-point shot. In 1999 Florida State renamed its Most Valuable Player award the "Hugh Durham Most Valuable Player" award in his honor. 5. Frank Brian A 6’1" guard from Louisiana State University, Brian signed with the Anderson Packers of the National Basketball League in 1947. In 1949 the NBL and BAA merged to form the NBA. He scored 2,442 points in three seasons with the Packers, then joined the Chicago Stags of the NBA when the Packers franchise folded following the 1949–1950 season. The Stags quickly traded Brian to the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, whom Brian represented as an NBA All-Star in 1951.Brian also earned All-NBA Second Teams honors in 1951 after averaging 16.8 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds. Frank Led Tri-Cities Blackhawks (now "Atlanta Hawks") in scoring in 1951.Frank was 5th in the League with his 1,144 points for the Blackhawks during 1951–1952 season. In May 1951, the Blackhawks traded Brian to the Fort Wayne Pistons for Howie Schultz and Dick Mehen. Frank led Ft. Wayne Pistons (now "Detroit Pistons") in scoring in 1952 & 1953, ranking 6th in the league with 1,051 points during the 1951–52 season. Brian had five productive seasons with the Pistons, who went to the NBA Championships in 1955 and 1956, and he retired in 1956 with 6,663 combined NBL/NBA career points. Passed away in 2017. 6. Kyle Macy American basketball commentator. He played college basketball at Purdue University and the University of Kentucky, and spent seven years in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers; he then spent three seasons in the Italian Lega Serie A. After his playing career, he has held various basketball-related positions, including coach, general manager, and broadcaster. 7. Ronnie Collins A 1960 Mt. Zion Institute graduate, Collins came to the University of South Carolina in 1960 after receiving state basketball player of the year honors in his senior year at Winnsboro High School. By the time he graduated, Collins averaged 17.0 points per game over his career, with his senior year average of 23.7 points, a team high that year and fourth all time for a single season at USC. That year he was also the South Carolina College Player of the year and was a First Team All-ACC selection. He set the team’s single-season free-throw percentage record of 88.4 percent, set in his sophomore year. He averaged 80.1 percent from the free-throw line in his career, seventh on the all-time Gamecocks list. Collins scored 1,256 career points in 74 games with the Gamecocks. Collins was inducted into the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002, and was the South Carolina Men’s Basketball Legend at the 2008 SEC tournament.
