Description: 2003 S Proof Cameo Cent Lincoln Shield Penny from JT Stanton Collection (Cherrypicker) Offered here is one of many fine proof coins (and more) acquired from the collection of J.T. Stanton, world famous co-author of Cherrypicker's Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins. A few years back in 2018 I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Mr. J. T. Stanton. He is truly a gentleman and a scholar, and an expert in his field of US coin varieties, and a delight to talk to, I won't forget it! I found him very generous with his expertise and we shared knowledge in numismatics. He was selling a personal inventory of proofs and uncirculated coins. We did secure a variety from him (see all our coins and items listed) and now we're able to make them available to the public for competitive prices. This collection is of particular interest, as these coins were hand selected and collected by J.T Stanton himself, and I really have to say he did a fine, fine job- these are the nicest proofs I have ever seen. You get what you pay for, indeed. JT passed away October 19, 2018, sadly. He was an important and integral part of the numismatic world and his passion for the hobby was contagious. He brought so much information into the public realm through his own painstaking research and data gathering through coin hunting, and was very generous with his time and resources to further advance the hobby into a profession for so many! Our common ground was the errors and varieties niche, particularly those which can be found by searching through "OBW BU" rolls (that is to say, "original bank wrapped brilliant uncirculated" rolls of coins). He leaves behind a library of books and literature he authored with excellent photographic documentation essential to the world of United States coin varieties and errors, all available to the public. His input will be missed. He was a super-nice fellow, he helped me very much, he shared many of his personal resources along with a great deal of coin variety photography, which he made public. His gifts were complete with a personalized signed copy of Cherrypicker's Guide, which I cherish! In no way can I encapsulate and sum up JT Stanton in a few sentences, so no offense if I missed anyone or anything, with all due respect. In the few months we conversed and transacted, it was nothing short of an honor and anyone that knew him surely would agree. It was a pleasure, and I am grateful to have been able to purchase some of his collection and offer some of it here. That is what he expected. You will receive one coin, picture is an example of what you will receive unless otherwise noted. While these coins are all excellent to begin with, if you are looking for extremely high grades you may be best served to buy graded and slabbed coins.
