The Setwell company made the 20 inch hanger first. Due to the expense of it they discontinued it and started making the 18 inch hanger.The 18 inch is more common because many more of those were made.The 20 inch pant part of the hanger closes with the handle in the up position. The 18 inch hanger closes with the handle in the down position.Both hangers are 10.25 inches from the top of the hanger to the bottom of the pant hanger. Both hangers are working great. These Setwell hangers are a work of art and any suit hanging on them is going to stay in better shape and condition than a suit hanging on a regular hanger. These hangers were designed to hold the shape of shoulder pads in suits. The shoulder pads can bend easily on other hangers causing the shoulder pads to look misshaped and can cause the suit jacket to be longer on one side. The first pictures after the pictures of both hangers together are of the 20 inch hanger. You can see from the pictures the 20 inch is actually 19 inches wide and the 18 inch hanger is slightly less than 18 inches wide.
