Description: 1st Edition 1st State with uncorrected pages 441 (Twain on fire, pic 6) & 443 (St. Charles Hotel, pic 7) LIFE ON THE MISSISSIPPI Mark Twain 1883 Leather Bound Marbled Cover and Page Edges. Boston James R Osgood and Company Hardcover. This is an un-restored un-repaired copy. This is a very rare book and I wouldn't be selling something in this condition if it wasn't. There are worse examples from other sellers for more money. This will ship safely packed with insurance. Poor Condition. There are several issues: 1) Writing on first inside page which is detached along with front endpaper (pics 11 & 13), 2) no other loose pages but several are semi-detached starting page 369 through page 384: these pages are attached at top only (pics 15 & 16), 3) tanned pages throughout, 4) heavy wear on cover & its edges. 5) Binding is loose, but cover is still attached and hinges are intact (pics 12 & 14). Please see pictures at top of this page. I will send more pics on request. NO smells or water damage. No other writing except what is shown in pic 11. Items are sold "As Is." Please look carefully using the zoom feature & ask questions ahead of time. I will ship the book with good protection so it won't get damaged in transit. I know how to safely pack books.
