Description: This exquisite artwork is a treasure for Chinese mixed media collectors. From my family member's collection, the name of this painting should be "Chen Zishi" from Xinhui, China. The painting is an antique original created between 1900-1940. Chen Zishi, with the courtesy name Xuanbo and the pseudonym Shizhai, was a poet, painter, calligrapher, and Chinese medicine expert in the late Qing Dynasty. He was from Xinhui County, Guangdong, China. He was a descendant of Chen Xianzhang, a great scholar in Lingnan during the Ming Dynasty. He learned the Southern School of Alchemy from his uncle Chen Kuigong, studied calligraphy and painting with Gao Jianfu, and studied medicine under Chen Botan. Chen Zishi was not only proficient in medical skills, but also had profound attainments in poetry, calligraphy, and painting. During the Anti-Japanese War, he held a joint exhibition of calligraphy and painting with Zhang Daqian in Sichuan to raise funds for the war. He also founded the "Cha'an Poetry Society" to promote Chinese Taoist philosophy and devoted his later years to spiritual cultivation and charity. This artwork was completed with graphite on paper, using a multi-color palette, which adds vitality to the overall design. This painting depicts an Arhat, a Buddhist saint, and is believed to have been created in China. The artwork is rich in detail and shows the artist's superb skills. This is a one-of-a-kind piece that would make a great addition to any collection of Asian antiques, paintings, and scrolls. The painting is in excellent overall condition, silk-mounted paper painting, and the frame is made of wood and glass. The China Chen's Xinhui "Chen Zi Shi" is sold as shown in the pictures. Thank you for your looking🌹
